SFL provide media playback solution for Pixar, Live in Concert
SFL were approached by the RTE Orchestra to provide the media server playback system for Pixar, Live in Concert. The show took place in Dublin’s largest theatre, the Bord Gais Energy Theatre located in the Grand Canal Docklands area of the city.
SFL provided a solution consisting of dual simultaneous playback systems, ensuring complete system redundancy should any issues arise. At the heart of the system were two Apple Mac Mini i7 servers running Q Lab software. The whole show was pre-programmed ahead of travelling out to Dublin, allowing for a plug and play solution upon arrival at the theatre.
All the orchestral pieces had elements of audio running in time with the visuals, these were handled by two Audiofire Echo 12 channel sound cards running on the firewire connection from the servers. The output of the sound cards was then fed through a Roland M300 mixing console to allow both servers’ audio feeds to be monitored and switched, should it need to. This audio feed was then patched up to the FoH engineer who then managed the whole mix with the orchestra.
SFL are proud to have provided playback systems for three performances of Pixar, In Concert. Performances have include Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre, London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall, and the 7th Krakow Film Music Festival at the Krakow Arena in Poland.
